Emily Bowling serves as the Assistant Director for Civic Engagement & Sustainability in the Department of Student Leadership & Involvement at Oregon State University. In this role, Emily provides leadership for the Center for Civic Engagement and the Student Sustainability Initiative and co-curricular sustainability education and outreach, service-learning, and civic engagement programming.
She earned her master’s degree in in educational leadership and sustainability education from Portland State University and bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry from Susquehanna University. Emily’s thesis focused on the coupling of community-based learning and sustainability education. Emily has over nine years of experience working in student affairs and student development within the areas of civic engagement, sustainability, student leadership, residence life, and first year programs. Emily has presented nationally and regionally on topics including community-campus partnerships, disaster relief service-learning, sustainability education, and living-learning community development.
